Au Pairs - Playing with a Different Sex; really enjoyed this - I can’t believe I’ve only just heard of them, thanks to them being name-dropped as the best female-fronted post-punk band by the Quietus somewhere. The open relationship-advocacy of 'We're So Cool' was my favourite track; 'Come Again' is a cleverly balanced approach to the difficulty of mutual orgasm in heterosexual relationships.
Einstürzende Neubaten - Kollaps; for the two weeks I borrowed this I was never in the mood (deadline stress) to listen to an LP of uncompromising industrial clanging, although I did give it a couple of listens. Einstürzende are great, obviously, but I couldn’t appreciate it enough under the circumstances!
Megadeth - Rust in Peace; this is absolutely brilliant, honestly. But because metal is probably the genre most liable to go catastrophically wrong, I never expect to enjoy stuff like this. I need to check out more of these classics.
Pussy Galore - Dial M for Motherfucker; well hmm, this isn’t at all what I thought Pussy Galore sounded like and I didn’t enjoy it at all. I can barely remember anything about it after two listens, my remaining impression is of lazy alt-blues without the blues…
